The Familylab Hand in hand - Parent circle project

Please join our newest initiative: The Familylab Hand in hand - Parent circle What is it all about? A parent circle is a smaller group of parents that meet for a series of workshops to zoom in on parenting topics & challenges. It is a place to get new insights, to exchange ideas, ask questions and share experiences, allowing you to grow as a parent.  As we get to know each other better, the circle develops as a safe and open environment where you can share the big & small challenges in raising children. A parent circle enriches and supports you in maybe the most important role in life: leading and guiding our children on their path to adulthood. Approach The workshops are based on the work of Jesper Juul, the famous Danish pedagoge that redefined the way we look at a child's behavior and developing relationships within families built on equal dignity.  Each workshop we approach one parenting theme, using ideas or concepts or a specific perspective on parenting as a frame fo

Parents workshop with FamilyLab/ exploring the difference between self esteem and self confidence

Dear EEB family,  Inge Vandegehuchte will be our special guest this time. Inge is a coach and personal development trainer, Familylab Belgium representative.  Familylab Association is a charitable organisation that aims to spread Jesper Juul’s (see below for more info) values such as equal dignity, authenticity, integrity and personal responsibility within families, schools, organisations and society.  We invite EEB families to dive into Jesper Juul’s philosophy and discuss together the topic of self esteem, as it is one of the major pillars of children's well being, a joyful childhood and transition into competent adults.  Not only self esteem lays the foundation for a healthy self acceptance and resilience, at the same time it can be our children’s best anti-dote to society’s performance pressure and the often resulting fear of failure, self doubt, perfectionism patterns, etc… So, well worth of being explored a bit further. Let's talk about gaming

Let's talk about gaming as our next Hand in Hand support group discussion.    Friday 25th June 2021, 19.00 - 20.00 CET Gaming  is a very common leisure activity of modern children and with summer holidays coming up some children might spend more time on it. In order for us, as parents, to understand all pros and cons of gaming, I collected some interesting material to preview at your convenience and then discuss together at the meeting. Apart from sharing the thoughts from watching the documentaries we can try to answer some questions, for example - Why do games have an age limit? How to explain it to children?  - How much time playing gaming is enough?  - Do you know every game that your child plays? - Do you play online games together?  Stuff for homework :)  Are you being played?  Four Corners (Australia's leading Investigative journalism program) launched a crowdsourced investigation into video gaming and received more than 3,000 responses.  It goes deep into the business m
